Alicia
Vinaysa
In love with the concept of balance, Alicia first saw yoga as a natural counterpart to high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts in 2011 and hasn’t looked back since. Alicia completed teacher training (RYT-200) in 2017, a 30 hour advanced sequencing training in 2018, and a 75-hour advanced level practical teaching training called “The Art of Teaching Kula Style Yoga: or deconstructing creative alignment based flow with intelligence and precision” in 2019.
Her approach to yoga is focused on developing a symbiotic relationship between movement and breath. Allowing space for the body to work as a whole is near and dear to her heart. An exuberant and inquisitive individual, Alicia strives to bring both characteristics into her classes. In addition to yoga, Alicia also loves contortion, rock climbing, reading, HIIT, and tennis. She is thrilled to be teaching and hopes to see you soon.
Anna
Yin
Anna discovered yoga in 2003 as a perfect balance to the always-in-her-head rigors of magazine editing, and since then it’s become a way of life. She loves yoga’s potential to help people find calm, clarity, and vitality in an often-chaotic world, and her yin classes offer students an opportunity to slow down and connect more deeply to themselves and their own wisdom. She’s also honored to be the co-founder and co-facilitator of Yess Yoga’s women’s circle. When she’s not on her mat, you’ll usually find her writing, playing in the dirt, traveling the world, or dancing up a storm at Dance Church.
Dawn
Vinaysa and Yin
When Dawn discovered yoga over 15 years ago she found that it helped to slow down her busy mind and provided her with healing space to turn inward. She believes that by moving with our physical body, being intentional with our breath and finding moments of quiet, we can learn to develop compassion and curiosity with ourselves and each other.
Dawn teaches Yin, Slow Flow and Vinyasa and seeks to create classes that are approachable to all levels of practice. She especially enjoys teaching people who are new to yoga or think they can’t “do” yoga. In the summer, she combines her love for the outdoors and yoga by offering workshops that combine yoga, hiking and wildlife tracking. More info at: www.dawnengland.com
Dawn completed training in teaching trauma informed yoga and teaches classes in a trauma aware style.
Elizabeth
Curvy, Slow Flow, Beginner, and Studio Manager
Elisabeth began practicing yoga 10 years ago, and quickly fell for the practice which help her shed years of negative body image issues. Her desire to teach grew from understanding how it feels to practice yoga in a body doesn’t fit prescribed yoga stereotypes and her goal is to help students come to the mat from a place of acceptance where ever they are at in their yoga journey.
She works to provide support and modifications for yogis in bodies of all shapes, sizes and abilities and her classes are low key and accessible and fun. Elisabeth is the founder of Yess’ monthly Body Love Gathering, and teaches Curvy, Slow Flow, Yin and Restorative. In addition to yoga, Elisabeth teaches reformer pilates and enjoys spending time with her grown daughters and their partners, cooking for friends, camping or dreaming of her next trip.
Gabriela
Yin
Gabriela found yoga while living abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, after years of looking for a form of movement that worked for her body. The mind-body-spirit connection she found in yoga was a bonus she hadn’t realized she was looking for, and because of this connection, yoga has stayed the most constant practice in her extensive and frequent travels. In addition to yoga, Gabriela spends a lot of time with her motorcycle, her other vessel for meditation. Her classes mirror her humor, honesty and ease, and encourage students to have fun!
Jessica
Tantra Yoga and Meditation
Jessica Skilar has been practicing Yoga for her whole adult life, but found Kundalini Yoga in 2017 after buying an unlimited pass at a local studio. She was instantly in love. The class was really different from anything she had ever done before and at first she almost left, because it seemed so “weird” to her! Thankfully she didn’t because she left the class feeling like she was floating two feet from the ground. She was hooked right away. Jessica experienced healing from chronic pain in her back as well as healing from emotional issues including PTSD and she is passionate about sharing this healing with the world.
kassira
Vinyasa and Yin
Kassira started practicing yoga regularly about a decade ago. At her core, Kassira believes in radical inclusion through a lens focused on health at every size and anti-dieting, racial justice/antiracism, and intersectional feminism. She infuses this belief in her practice and classes. She loves yoga for its incredible way to unite the intangible with the tangible. The only rule she believes applies to all forms of yoga is safety: we should always feel safe when we practice–emotionally, physically, mentally.
When not on the mat, Kassira loves to read, be outdoors, and watch The Office and trashy reality TV. Mountains are her happy place.
Kassira completed trauma-informed yoga training and teaches using a trauma-aware style.
Lucia
Vinyasa
Lucia (she/her) has traveled around the globe in her pursuit to learn all she can about the art of yoga. She has studied ancient approaches to the practice and realized yoga is more than a workout. It is a way of life. Lucia’s classes are focused on integrating a healthy mind, body and soul, both on and off the mat. By applying the principles of yoga to everyday life, Lucia has found a deeper sense of peace and happiness. Her goal is to help others discover a new level of contentment.
Lucia completed training in teaching trauma informed yoga and teaches classes in a trauma aware style.
Marnie
Yin, Restorative, Freebody and Kundalini
I first stepped onto a yoga mat almost 20 years ago having no idea what a profound impact this ancient technology would have on my life. When I first began, I was in search of figuring out who I was and what defined me. Today I know that I can never truly define myself because I am always in constant creation. Yoga has taught me that a good portion of the journey is not trying to figure out ‘who I am’ but letting go of who I am not. By letting go which is not me, I create space for the inspiration and creation that is me.
At the point in my journey, I teach teachers and students yoga in the styles of Yin, Restorative, Kundalini and yoga for health and healing. To me it is all yoga. The spiritual science of bringing the little self in union with the big Self. Today parts of me are a teacher and a student, tomorrow I might just be an artist and a farmer. At my core, I like to make things and help people. At the end of the day we are all stars wrapped in skin, here for a human experience. Yoga happens to be the template which guides me on how to make the best of it. Sat Nam.
Mary bue
Yoga For Runners
Mary Bue is a registered yoga teacher (e-RYT 500), an indie musician, and a teacher in the Viniyoga tradition. Viniyoga is a breath-centered, flowing practice that believes in adapting postures to fit the whole person (not forcing a person to fit into a posture!). Mary received her certification at Whole Life Yoga in Seattle, WA by Tracy Weber (student of Gary Kraftsow, student of T.K.V. Desikachar) and her 300 hour from Yoga Center Retreat (formerly Yoga Center Minneapolis). She is also trained in prenatal yoga, yoga for anxiety & depression, pranayama, and trauma-informed yoga. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota – Duluth. She founded and ran Imbue Yoga Studio in the Corcoran neighborhood of Minneapolis for nearly 3 years.

Sara
Vinyasa
Sara has been practicing yoga for more than ten years; she has spent time in the back row, front row, and pretty much every row in between. In winter 2014, she decided it was time to learn what it was like to practice from the teacher’s row. Sara loves to experience how each Yess student makes every class special and unique.
Sarah b
Yin and Slow Flow
Practicing yoga allows Sarah Bonneville to feel as though she is lounging in her body. As a life-long athlete, yoga has always been an integral part of preventative care and recovery. She discovered yin after a lengthy globe trotting stint and was so deeply impacted she felt inspired to study more and eventually undertake the yoga teacher training at Yess Yoga!
Off the mat, Sarah B races bicycles and runs a wildly successful private practice where she sees clients for integrative bodywork sessions including modalities such as craniosacral therapy and myofascial release. You can find more information about her work here >> https://www.
Steve
Vinyasa and Yin
This is my practice I want to share with you – show up. We can spend hours thinking and talking about all the wonderful benefits one receives from yoga; physical, mental, emotional, etc. And all of that is well and good. But the practice is about showing up. This isn’t performance, you don’t have to dress a certain way, or hold a posture to look a certain way. You don’t need to wait until you feel good enough, or are in need “of something”. We just show up and start. When we show up for ourselves, it increases our capacity to show up for everyone else in our lives; our friends, family, partners and pets. When we take care of ourselves, we are taking care of everyone in our lives. Wherever you are right now on this journey is just as important as where you are going. We don’t need to wait for something to change or happen, we can show up for ourselves.
Tara
Yin
Tara has always been drawn to yoga, but moving to Minneapolis in 2013 gave her the push she needed to deepen her practice. She calls many places home and is grateful to call Minneapolis one of them. As a traveler, yoga keeps her grounded while also giving her the curiosity to explore both on and off the mat. She guides her students to connect with their playful and intuitive nature in a cozy, welcoming, and supportive space. She loves animals, airplanes, candles, and coffee.
Victoria
Vinyasa
Victoria has been practicing yoga for over fifteen years and teaching for over seven. With a background in Ashtanga and Vinyasa styles, her classes tend to be physically challenging but lighthearted, in an effort to help students to explore their practice in a different way. Victoria aims to incorporate yoga philosophy into her classes, as well as to encourage her students to take their yoga off of their mats. Outside of yoga, Victoria also teaches Geography at a local community college and is involved in advancing sustainability at the college and in the Twin Cities.
Our Story
Yess Yoga’s focus is to be a just, third space for all to practice the ancient and timeless wisdom of Yoga. It would be common for our classes, workshops, or trainings to include the following themes; yoga theory and philosophy, Trauma Informed, Ayurveda, Astrology and many more.
Our expansive offerings are based on the teacher’s personal interest and authenticity. There will be no two classes or teachings alike so that we can truly have an inclusive and intuitive community. Feel free to express your own needs and wants in class and the teachers will do their best to include your requests.
